Christians have been charged not to loose hope that Nigeria will overcome her present predicaments.
The Parish Priest, Holy Ghost Parish Abeda-Shitile, Logo local government area, Very Revd. Fr. Michael Bull gave this charge today in his sermon at the parish headquarters.
Fr. Bull who dedicated the mass to "praying for Nigeria" as it clock 56 years of independence said though, Nigeria as a nation is faced with many challenges ranging from terrorism, militancy, fulani/farmers clashes, economic meltdown and political crisis among others, there will be light at the end of the tunnel and urged Christians and all Nigerians to pray, trust and have faith in God Almighty that He will make Nigeria to be greater among Nations.
He encouraged those who think Nigeria's hope as a nation to overcome her present situation was dashed to have faith in God as the only person to save the situation as He is merciful and compassionate.
He maintained that sometimes God delays but when He comes, He comes with comfort and joy and asked Nigerians to expect better days in the country very soon as our tribulations are before God.
The clergy man who attributed the present challenges Nigerians are facing to corruption and mismanagement of resources by some past leaders in the country said, he is optimistic that with the efforts been made by the present leaders to steer Nigeria out of its predicaments, Nigeria will be great again as God will never fail us and advised Nigerians not to see leadership as a one man business but see it as a collective responsibility and deceased from corruption.
Prayers were offered for Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Samuel Ortom for good health, wisdom and knowledge to govern Nigeria and Benue State and also for all Nigerians for change of attitudes.
Readings in the church were taken from the book of Habakkuk 1:2-3, 2:2-4, Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9, 2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14 and Luke 17:5-10.
