Edo APC Chieftain Frown At Rising Insecurity In The State

A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Edo state and a Governorship aspirant, in the 2016 poll Chief Blessing Agbomhere called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to step up to the plague of insecurity ravaging the state.

Chief Agbomhere said the once peaceful state has been reduced to den of kidnappers. He made the call in the face of orgy of kidnapping that has enveloped the state in recent months.

“The spate of insecurity in Edo State has gotten to an alarming proportion and the most dangerous bound, and this has necessitated call for a swot analysis of the state’s security approach.

“One of the fundamental duties of the state is to protect the life and property of her citizens. Any society without security of life and property is enataema to investments and subsequent economic development that will attract growth and benefits her people.

“The rate and spate of kidnaping in Edo State is condemnable. It is a disgrace and an unprintable dent on the national identity of every Edo born, home and abroad. As some states in Nigeria are enjoying peace and serenity, Edo is experiencing kidnaping spree and boom. Osayomore Joseph is kidnaped today, Ehanire and Fr Adorolo were kidnaped ‘yesterday’, and a yet to know person may be kidnaped tomorrow. Is this how we will continue to live? Where is the freedom to life and of free movement as guaranteed by the grundnorm of our country?

“I urge Edo State government to deploy all security agencies and strategies as a matter of atmost urgency and emergency to curb the incumbency of insecurity that is fast destroying the socioeconomic life of our people. And by doing this, the government will be carrying out its constitutional duty while also fulfilling its campaign promise”, he said.

You will recall that Mr. Andy Ehanire the DG of Ogba Zoo was kidnapped penultimate week and three police men on duty were killed on the spot. While the Nigeria police is yet to rescue Mr. Ehanire and the perpectuators of the sinister act brought to book, a popular Benin musician Mr. Joseph Osayomore was adopted in his house in Ekenwan area of Benin City. Calls to the state Police Public Relation Officer for updates on the unfortunate incident went unanswered.
